Will a key fob I bought online work with my car?

Sometimes. It must be the correct part for your year, make, and model, and many inexpensive listings are not. Before you pay, send us the number printed on the back, and we will tell you if it is compatible with your vehicle. The wrong fob cannot be made to work, regardless of who programs it.

Does programming a new fob stop my old ones working?

Only if you ask for it. By default, a new fob is added to the ones your car already recognizes. If one of your fobs goes missing, please notify us and we will delete the stored list, ensuring that only the fobs in your possession will work after that.

How many key fobs can my car hold?

Depending on the make, most vehicles can hold two to eight fobs. If you want a fob for each driver in the house, let us know when you book and we'll program them all at once, saving you money over separate visits.

My fob stopped working after the car battery was changed. Does it need reprogramming?

Usually not, but it does occur. The fob remains paired with almost every vehicle even after a battery change. Tell us what happened to the car and what the fob now does, and we'll tell you if it's a pairing issue or something simpler.

Can you program a used fob from another car?

Often yes. A second hand fob can usually be wiped of its old pairing and taught to your vehicle, as long as it is the right part. It is worth asking before you buy new, because a used fob plus programming can come in well under a new one.

Should I try a new battery first?

Yes, if the fob has not been dropped or wet. A flat cell is the most common cause by a wide margin and it is a few dollars to rule out. If a fresh battery changes nothing, then the fob or the pairing is the problem.
